Book club rekindles love of literature in black youth

The Love of Literature Book Club will host an open house and early-bird registration day on September 8, 2018 at Knowledge Bookstore from 11:30 am to 1 pm. The book club is accepting black youth (ages 9 to 12) and teens for the 2018 fall term. Love of Literature was created to provide a place for young readers to review books and connect with their peers through engaging and empowering discussions. Registration closes on September 15. The fall term will run from September to December 2018.

The early-bird rate, of $60/per reader, will be offered to parents/guardians on September 8 at the open house. Registrations received after September 8 will be $75/per reader

The following groups are available for children between the ages of 9 - 12:

  • Girls: Lil' Ladies of Literature
  • Boys: Lil' Lads of Literature

All groups (including teens) will require a minimum of eight participants in order to proceed for the fall.

The registration fee includes:
  • All reading material for the term
  • Three to four book club meetings (discussions held at Knowledge Bookstore on Saturdays)
  • Discussions lead by a dynamic facilitator who connects with kids in the black community
  • Light refreshments
  • A complimentary reading journal (only available for early-bird registrations)

The selections will introduce readers to new books and explore a range of topics they can relate to.

Help Knowledge Bookstore to continue serving the community
Knowledge would like to continue expanding its "Encouraging Young Minds"  and "Mentoring our Youth" program but we cannot do this without your support.
Knowledge Bookstore needs your help! Help us keep the dream alive.

So donate and help Knowledge to thrive. Support your independent bookstore, and uplift our community.
The things I want to know are in books

When kids don’t practice their reading skills they can fall behind.  Choose a great book from Knowledge Bookstore to help keep your child entertained, enriched, and informed.

Encouraging Young Minds

Children are our greatest asset, ensure we are providing them with the proper tools to strive. Welcome to our “encourage a young mind” program. Children will participate in numerous activities focused on building the mind and inspiring the imagination.
